Odisha FC have reached an agreement to sign defender Kamalpreet Singh on a two-year deal, the Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) club announced on Saturday. The 22-year-old fullback joins the likes of George D’Souza, Kamaljit Singh, Hendry Antonay and Saurabh Meher as the defensive reinforcements for the Bhubaneswar-based club ahead of the 2020-21 Hero ISL season.

"Really excited to be part of the project at Odisha FC and hopefully will win some silverware with them too. I have seen and heard that the club gives a lot of chances to the youngsters, and I am ready to fight for my place in the starting line-up for every game," Kamalpreet said while talking about his new challenge in Indian Football.

The right back played a key role during Minerva Punjab's first ever Hero I-League title winning campaign during the 2017-18 season, before moving to Kolkata-based club East Bengal, where he has been for the last two season. The fullback from Punjab has also represented India in the age-group competitions.

"Kamalpreet will be a solid addition to the team. After last season, it was clear that we needed depth in the defense. He is a player who we see to be a no-nonsense defensive RB. He will compete with Shubham for the right back spot which is good for the club,” Mr. Rohan Sharma, club President said about Odisha FC’s new signing.

The signing of Kamalpreet follows the addition of young attackers Baoringdao Bodo and Laishram Premjit Singh, with the club looking set to build a team for the future.
