Cellar team FC Goa have a lot to prove in their fixture against Delhi Dynamos FC in the national capital on Wednesday. They are not taking anything for granted despite winning their first leg encounter against the hosts, the only win that the visiting side has managed in the tournament so far.“This is a meaningful game for us. The situation we are in, we are hoping to get a win. Even though we won against Delhi Dynamos in our first encounter with them, this does not give us any advantage. It will be a level game and we both are in the same situation,” explained head coach Zico at the pre-match press conference today.Queried about Goa’s poor record in the tournament, the Brazilian footballing legend said it was a series of mishaps that contributed to the freefall. “In the beginning we had lost a few players to injuries. In several matches we had many opportunities to score but we could not finish. We made mistakes in very crucial moments of some games that cost us the points,” he said. However, Zico said he is still optimistic about a turnaround in the remaining matches.Zico said his team could have given a better account of themselves if his players had also availed of the best talents from the other three leading clubs in Goa instead of Dempo Sports Club only. He also felt that if there were less foreign players allowed to be fielded in each team it would help the cause of Indian football as more Indians would be able to display their talents.Afghanistan skipper and defender Zohib Amiri, who is part of the Goan squad and was also present at the press conference, gave his take about the situation, “We are not thinking about revenge. We have come here to win the game and we are going to play our natural game. Maybe, for them it is revenge.”
