Zico: If you don’t take your chances, you lose

Zico’s FC Goa failed to consolidate their position at the top of the 2015 Hero Indian Super League table as they lost to hosts Mumbai City FC at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Sunday evening and the head coach chalked the defeat up to not making the most of scoring opportunities that came their way in the match.

Speaking to the media after a 2-0 defeat that saw Sunil Chhetri and Frederic Piquionne hitting the back of the net for the home side, Zico said: “It was a complicated game. We both had our chances, they scored we didn't but this is football. If you don't take your chances, you lose.”

With 10 points from six matches, Goa continue to lead the table. When asked if the defeat on Sunday could derail their campaign, Zico said: “It’s a tough tournament with short games. Like last year anything can change in the last moment. And we don't care about anyone's result, only our results matter.”

FC Goa headed into this match having played Kerala Blasters FC on Thursday. When asked if the little rest between the matches played a part in his team’s second defeat this season, the Brazilian said: “This is a levelled tournament. All teams are the same. Teams don't have consecutive victories because there's little time to rest. And after no rest if you face an attacking team if might break your chain of winning.”

Zico also praised Chhetri who scored his third goal of the season.
