FC Goa coach Zico eyes a quick recovery from their 4-0 drubbing at the hands of defending champions Atlético de Kolkata as the Gaurs get ready to face NorthEast United FC in their Hero Indian Super League Season 2 encounter at Fatorda’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Wednesday.

Goa went into the Kolkata game on the back of a thumping 7-0 win against Mumbai City FC but were humiliated by Antonio Lopez Habas’ men. However, addressing the media on Tuesday, Zico said the defeat hadn’t really affected the team’s confidence.

“Like, how the victory of 7-0 didn't affect us, so the loss of 4-0 also didn’t affect us. If we win this game now, the game against Kolkata will be forgotten. Every game is history, so let's carry on forward towards our targets. Our defeat that day was more down to Kolkata’s superiority,” Zico told reporters on Tuesday.

Goa have 18 points from 11 matches and will put one foot in the semis if they win on Wednesday. NorthEast, on the other hand, are currently fourth in the table with 16 points from 11 matches and will do their semi-final chances a world of good if they can beat Goa tomorrow. When asked how important the game against the Highlanders was, the Brazilian said: “All the games are important games. We played against Kolkata, also important, and so is this game. Now in practice will see who is fit and decide who will play, and give our best tomorrow.”

The last time these two teams met earlier this season, the Gaurs ran away to a 3-1 win. However, Zico was clear that the result from that match won’t have any bearing on the one on Wednesday. “It's a new game, it's a new story. The other game has nothing to do with the game now. NorthEast are looking to be in the semis too, they're playing very nice games. We have to give 100% and do our best,” he said.

“In football there is always pressure. In all our games we have pressure…We are going to do our best to look for this result.”
