What Manolo Marquez said on FC Goa's defeat to Jamshedpur FC
Marquez admitted that Jamshedpur FC were the better side as FC Goa suffered their third defeat of the season, dropping to third in the standings.

FC Goa head coach Manolo Marquez was critical of his side after they fell to Jamshedpur FC in the Indian Super League (ISL) on Sunday.
Jamshedpur FC broke the deadlock through Lazar Cirkovic before Javier Siverio doubled their lead. Ayush Chhetri pulled one back for FC Goa in first-half injury time, but the Men of Steel never took their foot off the gas, continuing to pile on the pressure. Siverio struck again in the second half to seal the victory.
After going unbeaten in their last 12 games, FC Goa suffered their third defeat of the season. With this result, Jamshedpur FC completed a league double over FC Goa, having beaten them 2-1 in the reverse fixture.
Marquez admitted that Jamshedpur FC were the better team and urged his side to move on from the defeat.
“Fair win, Jamshedpur FC played much better than us. FC Goa didn’t appear on the ground today and that’s a simple summary. In the first half, they were 1000 times better than us. We arrived at the water break, (the scoreline) very lucky for us, because at that moment they missed very clear chances. We conceded two consecutive goals. We scored before half-time,” he said in the post-match press conference.
“In the second half, we entered (the game) more or less in the first minutes. But when they scored the third goal, the game was over. With our performance, we need to do self criticism to check what happened in the game and keep going because in another four days, we have another game,” he added.
Jamshedpur FC dominated FC Goa from start to finish. Although Marquez’s side enjoyed the majority of possession, it was Jamshedpur FC who looked the more threatening. The hosts registered 10 shots on target, forcing FC Goa goalkeeper Hrithik Tiwari into seven saves, while FC Goa managed only five shots on target.
Marquez admitted that his side were not at the level they had displayed in previous games and shifted focus to their next fixture against Odisha FC.
“We need to play in the way that we were doing, at least, to be competitive like in the former games. I think for sure, it was our worst game of the season. At any moment, we did not know how to play against them. They were practically better than us in every aspect of the game. We need to comeback, keep our heads up, train again and try to beat Odisha FC,” he explained.
