A dejected Zico told the media to ask his team to explain their defeat after FC Goa went down to Kerala Blasters FC by a solitary goal in a Hero Indian Super League match played in Kochi today.“It’s best you ask them,” the team’s head coach replied in answer to a question on the subject at the post-match press conference. “I am always teaching them what to do in the training sessions and I am happy with what I ask them to do. It is the same as always. Today, we again created opportunities but it was not happening for us.”Zico felt that his team did not play badly and the game was equally balanced and the only difference between the two teams was that they couldn’t take their opportunities whereas the hosts took advantage of theirs. “It was a very level game with very few opportunities, so we should have taken the ones we had. We had some and we didn’t score whereas, they (Kerala Blasters) had some opportunities and they scored,” he explained. The Brazilian legend emphasised that his team will keep on doing the same things they do in training but also stressed they must learn from their loss today. The coach is also hoping that some of the injured players will make a comeback soon to help the team reverse its fortunes. “We basically have to keep practising, keep doing the right things and keep on doing our work. And hopefully, that pays off. The main aim is to get back players that have been injured, and there have been a few, and hopefully, I can start with a few different players in the next game,” he stated.Zico is adamant that Goa can turn things around and return to winning ways in the second leg games that are coming around. “Despite what has happened today and in the first round of games, we will have the opportunity to start again and we can get in a good position in the second leg,” he stressed. He trailed off by congratulating the hosts on their win and praised the home support for creating a buzzing atmosphere around the stadium. “The ground was good, and we could play nicely. The stadium was good, and the supporters came and packed the stadium. Congratulations to Kerala Blasters for the win and for the supporters that came and supported their team and created the amazing atmosphere,” he concluded.
