FC Pune City lead the Hero Indian Super League table at present with 12 points from six games but head coach David Platt is not revelling too much in it. Speaking to the media ahead of their game against FC Goa at Fatorda’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Friday, Platt said that the league table was changing every day and they had to be on the ball at all times.“We’re coming towards the half-way stage. You look at the teams that are in it, it fluctuates. Every couple of games, you think, ‘Ok, these are the strong teams, these are the teams that need to do a little more work’, and then that changes. What this league has taught me is that you don’t know where the next result is coming from. So there’s no time for me to think we’re favourites, we’re not favorites! I care only about the next game that comes, to qualify. We’re in a healthy position to qualify for the further stages, at the moment, but we can’t take our eyes off the ball,” Platt told reporters on Thursday.Talking about the Stallions’ approach to the game at the Fatorda, Platt said, “The large percent of what we’re about is to concentrate on the principles that we’ve worked upon in the pre-season training because during the season, with the amount of games, it’s very difficult to change or bed in further principles…I’m aware of the kind of football that Zico likes to play and Goa like to play, and the players will be spoken to about it.”Seasoned Nigerian striker Kalu Uche leads the Pune goal-scorers’ table with four goals. Impressed with the former Espanyol forward, Platt said, “We always expected him to come to the fore at some point…He looks like he can sustain the 90 minutes, and he’s shown that he’s a big threat.”When asked about the shortcomings of his defence, Platt said, “The goals that we have conceded have been unforced. Sometimes, mistakes are made on the football pitch. Usually the goal occurs when there are two or three mistakes, like the first goal we conceded against Kerala…It’s mistakes that give people the opportunity to score goals. We will try and negate the unforced errors because that’s what in the end will make you successful.”
