FC Pune City bowed out of the 2015 Hero Indian Super League after a 1-0 defeat by Chennaiyin FC at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex Stadium in Pune on Saturday. The Stallions had already been out of semis contention going into their last match of the season. Head coach David Platt spoke to the media after the match and reviewed the loss.“First and foremost, 72 hours ago we went out of the competition. As a professional, that is a big debt for you. We travelled back the next day and did light training yesterday. For the players to go out and play well in a game which was point-wise meaningless speaks volumes for them,” he said.“We controlled the first half but Chennai had dangerous players. We did well in the second half too but we went a goal down. That more or less coincided with fatigue setting in…Once Chennai got the goal they sat down and defended deep and it was like a brick wall to penetrate, especially when you are tired and have no energy left.”When asked why they failed to register any away wins this season, Platt said: “You know those are the things that I will share with the football club and my management. It’s not my place to discuss those things here at the end of the season. I think it would be better to see things as a whole than look at it as just the away games. I have thoughts as to what was right and wrong and those things will be shared with the football club first.”When queried about his future at the club, the Englishman said he hadn’t made a decision yet. “Not yet, there are a lot of things that go into it. There are a lot of things that I have to contemplate…I have a family so I need to talk to them too before I make a decision. So I wouldn’t say yes or no yet.”Talking about his ISL experience, Platt said: “I have enjoyed my time here. The results haven’t been that great for us. At the start of the season yes they were but not later. When you are winning games, it’s a lot better than when you’re losing games. I am very disappointed for everyone involved with this football club.“It’s about the experience. I will go away and introspect. You have to be brutally honest. I have been brutally honest with myself. The football club gave me more or less carte blanche to more or less decide which players to get, [not to mention] tactics and team selection etc. Hence this all lies with me. I won’t shy away from responsibilities. This is all my responsibility.”
