Petr Kratky calls for momentum after Mumbai City FC's win over Hyderabad FC
The Islanders' head coach shared his thoughts after his side secured a narrow win at home against Hyderabad FC.
Mumbai City FC head coach Petr Kratky was pleased to see his side bounce back to winning ways with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Hyderabad FC at the Mumbai Football Arena on Saturday.
The Islanders were relentless from the outset, applying pressure on the visitors right from the first whistle. Their efforts were rewarded in the 29th minute when Mehtab Singh powered in a header to give them the lead.
Match Report: Mumbai City FC 1-0 Hyderabad FC
Mumbai City FC defended resolutely to maintain their advantage, sealing all three points and keeping a clean sheet— their second of the season and first against Hyderabad FC at home.
“We reacted very well. We got together, we re-grouped, and they showed it in the first half. The first half, for me, was very good. We won 1-0, but then later, when substitutions came, you saw from your team that we played to win. Not necessarily the football that we all wanted to see, but we played to win,” Kratky said during the post-match press conference.

Kratky commended his players for their resilience and quick response following the disappointing 3-0 loss to Punjab FC in the previous matchweek and also highlighted the importance of building on this win.
With their third win of the season, the Islanders now have 13 points from nine games.
“I'm very proud of the boys because it's not easy after a 3-0 defeat in four days to bounce back, you know, because Hyderabad FC are a good team. They're proving it, they're getting better, and they can beat everyone, so it's not easy.”
“But once it’s not enough, we need to just link it to the other games and fight for other points,” the head coach stated.
However, despite the win, Kratky was left with concerns as the injury list continued to grow.
Midfielders Yoell van Nieff and Jeremy Manzorro were sidelined due to injuries, while Jon Toral and Sahil Panwar were forced off during the match, further adding to the team’s injury woes.
“Injuries are part of football. But there are people, as I said, there are people who are waiting for a chance, and they're good enough to perform. So that's why I'm here. Sometimes you have to wait. So, how we deal with that, is the same. We get the boys ready,” he commented.
