Delhi Dynamos FC’s star midfielder Florent Malouda has called for more focus from his team-mates ahead of their last game of the league stage against FC Goa at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi on Sunday. The Lions have already secured a place in the 2015 Hero Indian Super League semis and the former France midfielder, who has provided his team with seven assists so far, believes their task will get tougher from here on.“I appreciate everything we've done so far but now is the most important part of the season, and until I reach the objective of winning the ISL with Delhi Dynamos I will not be happy. This is what I'm trying to share with my team. This is now the moment where you give value to everything you've done so far, so it's very important. You can’t qualify for the final without winning. If you want to win, you have to have a strategy and that's what we're preparing now and that's why tomorrow's game is very important,” Malouda told reporters on Saturday.Malouda also stressed that finishing the league in the top-2 was important for his team because that will bring them the advantage of playing their second leg of the semi-final at home. “I think we all want to play the second leg at home. It's a real advantage…But we have to be ready mentally for whatever happens,” he said.Malouda also appraised the Indian players in the Lions team. “I think they're all different. So it's difficult to form a general opinion. I can only speak about the players in my team. I appreciate the commitment, potential and quality of the Indian players and right now we're working on consistency…Now we're getting into that stage of the league where it will be very important that every player shows his quality and potential. We're all partners. There are things I can do for them and there are things they can do for me. And as I was saying, their commitment towards the game because they give everything and the respect they have is something I really appreciate,” he said.Earlier this season, FC Goa, playing at home, registered a 2-0 win against Delhi in what was both teams’ league opener. Assistant coach Shakti Chauhan said the result from that match will have no bearing on their home encounter. “Definitely, the first game is very important. But in football sometimes you win, and sometimes you lose. When you lose, you have to find the reasons as to why you lost. We worked on it. Now you can see that we have lost very few games after that.”Chauhan also compared the coaching styles of Harm van Veldhoven, Delhi’s Dutch coach last season, and Roberto Carlos, the Lions’ marquee player-cum-coach this season. “All coaches are different. Harm was different. He had his own philosophy, he was a good coach and Roberto is a legendary figure. The most important thing is he is mentoring me a lot. I'm talking to him a lot, and learning a lot of things. He's also a marquee player so it's very important when he plays with the players, he's a great person. So players, coaches, technical staff, everyone is very happy when Roberto is around.“As I told you, both coaches are different. Dutch philosophy is different. Brazilians are more flair players. They give you more opportunities to do exactly what you want. So yeah, I learned a lot of things from Harm and I'm still learning from Roberto. For me both of them are good coaches.”
