Odisha FC take on Bengaluru FC in the Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) 2019-20 at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru on Wednesday. Odisha FC have won their last four games on the trot, and a fifth will see them leapfrog Bengaluru, who currently are third on the table.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Odisha head coach Josep Gombau spoke about the upcoming challenge and said, “Bengaluru are a team which manages the game very well. If they score first, they fall back and they do not concede too many goals. I think what’s important is that we play our game and do not change depending on which team we play. I think it will be a very close game.”

“We are not thinking that we are playing away. We will try to be competitive and we will defend, but we will defend as we did in all the games. I think it will be an interesting game,” he added.

Addressing Odisha’s recent run of wins, Gombau noted, “The four wins in the last few games is something good. We know that the next game against Bengaluru will be different. It is not an easy stadium to get a win, but we come with a lot of confidence. We are getting good results. It is a game where if we get a good result, we can go above Bengaluru in the points table. We come here with a lot of confidence and hope to win the game.”

Praising his young squad for what they have achieved so far, the Spaniard stated, “We are not as big as Bengaluru, ATK or Goa. We are playing with a lot of young players, but we are here. We are coming here missing two players (Vinit Rai through suspension and Nandhakumar Sekar to injury). I think the boys are strong and confidence is sky high. I think we can win the game.”

Midfielder Martin Guedes, who accompanied the gaffer, spoke about the task at hand. “We must be good, confident but humble. We have to work hard and create enough chances to get the three points. It’s always helpful to have players like Xisco (Hernandez) and Marcos (Tebar). Now we have to concentrate on our game and get the three points.”
