Jayesh Rane

Gameweek 6 of the Hero I-League saw entrants Royal Wahingdoh FC return to top spot replacing Pune FC who now move to second and Bengaluru FC closing in at third. The Kolkata derby, rescheduled from the second round, was also played last evening. The home game for East Bengal ended in a 1-1 draw.

This round was special for Mumbai FC as they recorded a 3-0 victory – their first of the Hero I-League campaign. Jayesh Rane (Chennaiyin FC) starred for the Mumbai outfit making some exquisite runs and also getting his name on the score sheet. Rane was also heavily involved in the build-up to the first two goals scored by his side, providing an assist to Josimar for the second goal. Undoubtedly Mumbai’s most threatening player on the night, Rane topped it off with his side’s third goal slotting past Subrata Paul with a calm and composed finish in second half of regulation time.

Lalrindika Ralte (Mumbai City FC) was awarded the Hero of the Match for his performance in the Kolkata derby. Rehenesh TP (NorthEast United FC) was in fantastic form against Bengaluru FC but could not prevent Shillong Lajong from going down 2-0 away from home. Tolgay Özbey (FC Goa) was in the thick of it for Dempo as they managed to secure only one point against Pune FC. Özbey put in a menacing shift attacking right from the start of the game. Lenny Rodrigues (FC Pune City) looked good for the Pune side as he led the onslaught in the final quarter.
