Hyderabad FC slumped to their 12th loss of Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) 2019-20 after succumbing to a 4-1 loss to FC Goa at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Goa on Wednesday. Hugo Boumous and Ferran Corominas grabbed a brace each to account for Goa's four goals, while Marcelo Pereira scored Hyderabad's solitary goal from a free kick.

At the post-match press conference, Hyderabad’s interim head coach Javier Gurri Lopez lauded the relentless Gaurs and said, “Today the entire team worked from the first minute to the last. In the last two games, our organization in defence and attack has been very good. We didn’t concede too many chances. But today, Goa has been much, much better than us from the beginning.”

“I think that we can play much better and we can create more problems for our opponents than we did in today’s game. After we scored and we put five midfielders in the middle, we controlled the game a lit bit more. But soon came their third goal. They are a fantastic team. They have fantastic players in attack. They control the game. Our players gave their 100%, but it was not enough,” accepted Lopez.

Lopez also credited Goa’s new coaching team for building on the good work done by the Gaurs’ former head coach Sergio Lobera, who parted ways with the club recently. “For me it is not about the coach. It is about the players always. This is the work of Sergio Lobera in the last three years. They played great football in every game, every week. Today as well with a new coach, they played great football. This is the truth. Lobera did a good job but now there is a new coach and he continues the same job,” Lopez said.

Picking out the positives from a disappointing result, Lopez commented, “It is difficult to find something positive when you lose 4-1. But I am a really positive person. I think that we put younger players like Liston (Colaco). The minutes that Liston played, he played very well. He didn’t feel any pressure. He tried one against one actions and also helped out in defence. This is a positive for us.”

Lastly, the Hyderabad interim head coach recognized that it will be a difficult ask for him to get his players motivated for their next match. “The most difficult job in this week is not training but recovering the self-confidence. Today it was bad work on my part as well. We need to forget the match. Our first objective in the next two days is recovering the self-confidence. We have a chance if we play as a team. Today we only played as a team for 10 minutes,” he opined.
