Jason Cummings’ sensational long-range free-kick against Jamshedpur FC in the first leg of the Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 semi-final has been crowned the Fans’ Goal of the Season.

The Australian striker earned the set-piece after being brought down by Ashutosh Mehta during one of his forward bursts. Cummings then stepped up and produced a moment of magic — a curling strike from distance that sailed into the top corner, giving Albino Gomes no chance despite a fully outstretched dive.

His strike brought MBSG back into the first leg of the semi-final, although the Men of Steel went on to win 2-1 with a late goal. The Mariners bounced back in the second leg with a 2-0 victory to advance to the final, where they defeated Bengaluru FC to clinch their second ISL Cup.

The fan poll, which determined the best goal of the ISL 2024–25 season, was conducted in four phases from May 27 to June 7. A total of 32 spectacular goals were shortlisted for the competition, with fans casting their votes to pick their favourite strike of the campaign.

After over a week of voting, four goals advanced to the fourth and final phase. Cummings’ thunderous free-kick emerged as the clear winner, earning 49.66% of the total votes.

He was followed by Kerala Blasters FC’s Noah Sadaoui, whose goal received 30.93% of the votes. NorthEast United’s Alaaeddine Ajaraie’s goal finished with 12.30%, while Hyderabad FC’s Sourav K’s strike claimed 7.12% of the votes.
