Mumbai City FC head coach Petr Kratky lamented his team's inability to shut out opponents as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Chennaiyin FC in the Indian Super League (ISL) match at the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium in Chennai on Saturday.

In the milestone 1000th match of the Indian Super League (ISL), Chennaiyin FC and Mumbai City FC battled to a 1-1 draw, with both teams putting forth determined performances. The match saw strong moments for both sides, but neither team could secure the win.

Match Report: Chennaiyin FC 1-1 Mumbai City FC

After a slow first half, Chennaiyin FC struck first, with Ryan Edwards capitalizing on a well-executed set piece in the 60th minute, giving them a 1-0 lead. Mumbai City FC quickly regrouped and found their equalizer, right after, with Nathan Rodrigues scoring in the 63rd minute.

Mumbai City FC's head coach Peter Kratky reflected on the performance in the post-match press conference "I think, I'm always disappointed because I always want to win," he said.

“We have to also realise that we play football, and we need to get better in that because opposition creates chances. We created goalscoring opportunities but Chennai (Chennaiyin FC) too had goalscoring opportunities. I'm disappointed. We need to improve, but the point is there so we have to take the positives. There were good performances, but we need to get better so we can get three points," he added.

Kratky also highlighted how some of the youngsters in the team have stepped up to the plate and are delivering the goods.

“I have been working with Nathan since I came here to Mumbai City FC, for almost a year. We have had a plan for him as we have for others, like Frankie or Valpuia making the starting XI. Nathan deserves to play, and he does it well. We just keep him motivated and keep him working, because it's just the start of his career. But we have many more in our team, we need to help also like we help Nathan," he added.

Talking about the absence of midfielder Jon Toral, Kratky reassured, “John picked up a little bit of tightness in his leg after the Kerala (Kerala Blasters FC) game. We've got Jeremy Manzorro, who is a good player, who can step in. We need to look after every player that we need because the season is long so there will be a lot of games."

Mumbai City FC will be looking to build on this performance and to get a win, after the international break, against Punjab FC on November 26.
