Hubers greeted by talented prospects on Day 3 of RFYC Club Scouting Festival in Guwahati

The third edition of the Reliance Foundation Young Champs Club Scouting Festival rolled on at the practice pitch near the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium, Sarusajai, Guwahati on Saturday. The festival commenced at 9:00 am and saw numerous young talents take to the pitch and display their footballing ability, hoping to impress the on-looking coaches and make the RFYC Final Selection Camp next month.

The aspiring talents went through their drills with seven coaches from NorthEast United FC’s grassroots development programme as well as Piet Hubers, technical director of grassroots development, and Mark Vaessen, head coach of the RFYC, all eagerly looking on.

Summing up Day 3 of the festival in Guwahati, Hubers said: “We saw very talented players, we were very happy with the performance of the players from NorthEast United FC. They organized a lot of festivals all around the eight states and picked out the best players to be a part of this festival…so in the end we the coaches from young champs and myself, we’re very happy here in Guwahati after seeing so many talented players.”

The club scouting festival began with the young hopefuls having to demonstrate their technical skills by taking part in passing and receiving drills. The festival’s focus then moved on to their positional sense as they were divided into groups of 7-v-3 and 6-v-4 and asked to go up against one another.

The NorthEast United FC Scouting Festival ended with the youngsters participating in a 7-a-side game to draw the curtains on Day 3 of the festival in Guwahati. Day 4 of the Club Scouting Festival will take place in the capital city of New Delhi.
