Atlético de Kolkata head coach Antonio López Habas is not fazed about the recent setbacks in their Hero Indian Super League campaign. His side were held by Chennaiyin FC to a 1-1 draw in stoppage time in Chennai and were later humbled 1-3 at home by FC Pune City in their last couple of matches. And the reason why the relaxed looking Spanish gaffer is not unduly worried is because “we are still on top”, as he told a press conference on the eve of the match against the southern side in Kolkata. “We always think positive, we fight hard for good results,” he added.Habas is also not too concerned about the attacking prowess of the visiting side who have scored the maximum number of goals (14) in the league with the prolific Elano Blumer, Stiven Mendoza and Jeje Lalpekhlua in their ranks. “He is a fantastic player but we are not trying to stop him, our focus is to stop Chennaiyin FC from scoring,” Habas replied, when asked about the strategy he would adopt to shackle the league top scorer Elano. The former Sevilla defender also dismissed a suggestion that their side backs could prove to be weak links when confronted by the speed and thrust of Mendoza and Jeje. “We are looking to stop a team, not any individual player,” he quipped.Asked about the strategy that he employs in the matches, Habas, who has extensive coaching experience in Spain, Bolivia, Thailand and South Africa, revealed, “We always have the same plan, we try to play with discipline, we fight hard and always keep a good respect for our opponents.”Atlético de Kolkata’s star striker Fikru Teferra, who was also present at the press conference, emphasised the team’s determination to protect their top ranking. “We must win tomorrow, my focus is on three points, I will try to do my best for the team,” the 28-year-old Ethiopian international said.Fikru also sounded confident about his team’s prospects despite the lack of results in the past few games. “We had to play too many matches in the past, almost within two-three days, but now we have got some rest, we are ready to go for the best (result),” he said.
