FC Goa have announced the signing of Spaniard Miguel Palanca for the upcoming 2018-19 season of the Hero Indian Super League (ISL). The 30-year-old becomes the Gaurs’ second Spanish recruit acquired from the summer transfer window, after Carlos Pena.

The winger started his career with the youth academy of Spanish side Espanyol. Palanca rose through the youth ranks before making several appearances for the Espanyol B side and one appearance for the senior team.

Palanca then received his big break in 2008 when he moved to Real Madrid. He made his debut appearance for Los Blancos, coming off the bench in a tie against FC Barcelona. Palanca would go on to play for a host of other clubs in Spain including Elche and Numancia. In 2015, the Spanish maestro shifted base to Australia where he represented Adelaide United in the A-League. His most recent stint was with Anorthosis in Cyprus.

After Manuel Lanzarote’s departure to ATK this summer, the Gaurs have done well to find a suitable replacement for the prolific forward. If Palanca can link up with fellow Spaniard Ferran Corominas upfront, Sergio Lobera’s men can match the goal-scoring feat they had set last year.
