Jamshedpur FC are yet to face defeat this season and have already earned admirers owing to their impressive style of football. The team will be on the road, as they look to preserve their unbeaten record when they go up against the in-form NorthEast United FC in Guwahati.
Ahead of the fixture, Jamshedpur head coach Cesar Ferrando interacted with the media during the pre-match press conference. He began by summing up his team’s performance in the opening three games. “We played difficult games. The team is improving every game, every match. This is a strong league. We have to play 18 matches, and every match is very difficult to play,” he said.
The Spaniard also heaped praise on his opponents and stressed the importance of improving consistently to go far in the league. “We are going to play against a team that is in the top of the league. They deserve this position. I think we are improving little by little. From the first match until today, my team has improved. But, if we want to be a strong team, we need to improve more things. I am happy with my team,” he opined.
Ferrando’s possession-based style of play utilising short quick passes has earned admiration from fans. When asked if his team will stick to the philosophy against NorthEast, the Jamshedpur head coach said, “We try to play short passes. But every game is different. We can do it, we’ll do it, but we’ll have to play long passes also. And, we are going to play long passes. The most important part is to win. We have our style, our system of playing. We are going to keep it, but every match is different.”
Quizzed about his assessment of Indian youngsters in his team like Jerry Mawhmingthanga and Michael Soosairaj, the veteran coach said, “They are young players, they are working very hard. They are playing very well and they have to learn a lot from international players. Sometimes when you watch Indian football players, they want to run a lot. You have to understand football. Sometimes you need to run, sometimes you need to stop. This is most important. They have to improve this. They have a lot of qualities. I am very happy with their work.”
