Indian Super League (ISL) sides Punjab FC and East Bengal FC will look to build on their opening wins as they return to action in the Durand Cup on Wednesday.

Punjab FC face the Indo-Tibetan Border Police Football Team (ITBP FT) in a Group D clash at Kokrajhar’s Sports Authority of India Stadium, while East Bengal FC host Namdhari FC in a Group A encounter at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata later that evening.

The Shers kicked off their campaign with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Karbi Anglong Morning Star, but Group D remains wide open. With Bololand FC and ITBP FT also registering wins over the same opponent, Punjab FC will need another three points to stay in control of their qualification hopes.

Meanwhile, East Bengal FC will have their eyes on the top spot in Group A. After a commanding 5-0 win over South United FC, they now face group leaders Namdhari FC, who have already beaten both South United FC and the Indian Air Force. A win for East Bengal FC would take them level on points with Namdhari FC and significantly boost their chances of progressing to the next round.

With both matches crucial in shaping their group standings, Wednesday’s fixtures promise to be pivotal in the campaign for these ISL clubs.
