Kerala Blasters FC head coach Steve Coppell was a disappointed man following his team's 2-0 defeat by Delhi Dynamos FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi on Friday. In the second half, Kean Lewis and Marcelinho scored in quick succession to guide the Lions to the top of the table. Speaking to the media after the game, Coppell was brutal in his assessment of his side's performance.“The goal was unfortunate as far as we were concerned. Actually, we were attacking and a couple of unfortunate errors cost us a goal. Goals turn games, they change the very nature of the performance. We then had to try and resurrect play by changing shapes slightly, which possibly didn't suit us. We looked very solid and competitive in the first half. I don't exactly remember the exact time when the first goal was scored but even in the second half, the first 10 minutes, the game was dormant but then the goal transformed everything,” Coppell said.Kerala have scored the least number of goals this season, four in eight matches. When asked if that was a problem for his team, Coppell replied in the affirmative. “If you are free scoring then you have confidence that you can get back into the game, like we showed against FC Goa. It is not the end of the world if we concede a goal; we can bounce back. I think we are a side capable of scoring goals but it is a problem for us. I've spent many hours thinking about it, even my staff has spent many hours thinking how we can improve, how we can get more men forward,” the 61-year-old Englishman said.He continued: “It is something we will continue to work on. We have got two home games coming up and if we get the points we are back in the thick of things. So that is going to be the objective now. I feel for the first hour we played very well against a free flowing attacking side. Our objective now is to get ourselves back to coaching, lick our wounds. We have some players who have got some knocks; then get ourselves ready to play against FC Goa [on November 8 in Kochi]. I do feel we are the only side in the ISL who have played four away games on the bounce. We have been away for three weeks. We look forward to getting back to Kerala.”
