Delhi Dynamos FC head coach Roberto Carlos was satisfied with his team’s gradual improvement in the scoring department after a 3-3 draw in their 2015 Hero Indian Super League match against Kerala Blasters FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi on Thursday. The Lions, who reached the semis with their 2-1 win against NorthEast United FC late last month, have come in for criticism several times this season for their less stress on scoring goals. However on Thursday, the home side showed great attacking prowess and earned a point after being 3-1 down at one stage of the match. Carlos was encouraged by the improvement.“Step by step, the team is improving. For the next phase of the league, they will be better because they have spent so much time together. They know each other very well now and that should help them in the next phase,” the Brazilian told reporters after the match.Carlos made six changes to his starting line-up on Thursday. John Arne Riise found his way into the starting eleven after missing the previous game, along with Subashish Roy, Serginho Greene, Mama, Gustavo Dos Santos and Adil Nabi. When asked why Robin Singh and Seminlen Doungel didn’t feature in the match, the Brazilian said: “They were resting. I want them to be prepared for the next phase.”Carlos also shed light on replacing Florent Malouda in the second half with Richard Gadze. “I replaced him in the last game as well because I want all my players prepared to give their 100% in the next phase. We have some players who are yet to play and I want to give them an opportunity. Against Goa [Delhi’s next game], probably I won’t play Malouda, Chicao, probably won’t use Nabi, and I want some players to take a rest for the next phase,” he said.Striker Nabi, who scored Delhi’s second goal, also accompanied Carlos to the press conference and discussed his deeper role on the field on Thursday. “Wherever the coach asks me to play, I will play. I just want to help the team win,” he said.
