Atlético de Kolkata’s marquee signing from Season 1 of the Hero Indian Super League (ISL), Luis Garcia has come out of retirement to join Australian A-League side Central Coast Mariners. The club confirmed the signing of the elegant Spanish playmaker for the 2015/16 season on Saturday.Having begun his career at the famous La Masia academy in Barcelona, Garcia went on to represent the likes of Liverpool and Atlético Madrid in a career spanning almost two decades now. During his time at Liverpool, Garcia won the UEFA Champions League and FA Cup with the Merseyside club and was also a part of the UEFA team of the year in 2005.Garcia played an important role in ATK’s ISL 2014 triumph by contributing two goals and two assists. The 37-year-old joins Central Coast Mariners as their marquee player in what has been hailed as one of the biggest singings in the club’s history.
