Adil Khan was extremely pleased with his team’s victory and teammate Gustavo dos Santos’ brilliant matchwinner as Delhi Dynamos FC stormed into fourth place with a 1-0 victory over FC Pune City in Pune on Saturday night. Dos Santos scored in the dying minutes of the game to propel Delhi to 17 points and just one win away from a spot in the top four. “I think we deserve to be in the top four, the way we’ve played the whole tournament. In the middle of the league we did lose and draw some games that we should have won. But I think that if we play the way we did today, we will surely qualify for the top four,” the former Sporting Clube de Goa Mohun Bagan man told indiansuperleague.com after the match.Adil, who won the ISL Emerging Player of the Match award for his sturdy performance as right-back, praised his coach and the team spirit for the turnaround in Delhi’s fortunes. The capital city side have won three and drawn one of their last four games after a terrible spell of four losses in their previous five games. “It’s all about team work and we are playing to the coach’s instructions. Our coach is guiding us correctly and we are doing as he says. The coach is keeping us in a good mood. There’s a new found spirit in the team,” revealed the Goan player. Delhi are now on the course to securing a semi-final spot. They need a win over league leaders Chennaiyin FC away in their last match to progress. “We will go all out because we know that even a draw is going to be tough for us. But we will go for it and God be with us so that we may win,” said a hopeful Adil.
