Volpato wants Mumbai City to remain focussed

Roberto Volpato will be looking to make a return to the Mumbai City FC starting line-up when they face hosts NorthEast United FC at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati on Saturday evening. The Brazilian goalkeeper missed Mumbai’s last two Hero Indian Super League 2016 matches against Atlético de Kolkata and Chennaiyin FC due to injury. Volpato has started six times this season and has notched up two clean sheets from those six outings besides 19 saves. The 37-year-old spoke to indiansuperleague.com in an exclusive interview ahead of his side’s clash against the Highlanders. Here are the excerpts.

Probably one of the toughest leagues you have played in so far, so what are your thoughts on that?

There is good competition and the league is hard and difficult and we hope to continue playing hard and doing well.

How many points do you think will be enough to qualify for the semis?

We need to take as many points as possible as we don’t have a fixed number.

How close is the team to the targets set at the start of the season?

We have six more games in the league stage and like I said we have to play hard and work well to collect the points to qualify.
