NorthEast United FC’s start to Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18 have not been pleasant. With just one win from six encounters this season, the Highlanders will be looking to turn their fortunes when they meet FC Pune City at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex Stadium in Pune on Saturday. Their squad will be bolstered by the return of goalkeeper TP Rehenesh, who served out a suspension following his red card against Kerala Blasters FC. Ahead of the weekend’s clash, the 24-year old shot-stopper spoke exclusively to indiansuperleague.com. Here are the excerpts.
Tell me about your pre-match routine.
There is nothing like that. I just wake up each morning and have breakfast, talk with my friends. Then later after lunch, we take a power nap and we have a small briefing with snacks and then we leave for the match.
Which save of yours this season is your favourite?
I think against Chennaiyin FC at their home. I had made a save in that match. (Raphael) Augusto had a shot on goal and I had saved it. So I think that was my favourite.
What do you love the most about your position?
Goalkeeping, as everyone knows, is one of the riskiest positions in football. You save many goals and they will praise you but the moment you concede a goal, there is a lot of pressure on you.
If you had to play as an outfield player, which position would suit you?
I think I would be a number 10 so that I could handle the ball more.
What is your mindset for the next game?
As everyone knows, we have been going through a very difficult time. I think we can bounce back in the next match and get the momentum going.
