ATK managed to hold on to their unbeaten record against FC Goa at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata on Wednesday, as they ended 2018’s first encounter tied at 1-1. Robbie Keane’s fourth-minute header was cancelled out by Ferran Corominas’ ninth goal of Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18. After a fiercely fought ninety minutes, indiansuperleague.com caught up with the host’s skipper Robbie Keane to take his views on the match. Here are the excerpts.

It was obviously a tough game. Your thoughts on the same?

In the first half, probably, they were the better team in terms of possession. We scored an early goal but we didn’t capitalize on that. They got a goal. I’m not too sure whether the free-kick was for us or for them. It looked like the linesman was about to give it to us and then gave it to them. They played on and they scored. They controlled the game in the first half a little bit but in the second half I think, we were the better team. Maybe overall, 1-1 was a fair result.

Two back to back goals in two matches and your signature celebration. Is that something we can see more often?

You’ve seen that for 20 years, haven’t you?

This was the first time that a match was played post-midnight this season. What do you have to say about that?

Obviously, it was a strange day for everybody today. Most importantly, we got here safe and sound which is more important than football. It was a long delay for everybody. You’re not sure if the game’s going to go on or not. In the end, it was a point for each team.

Any message for the ATK fans.

Appreciate it! It’s obviously very, very late.
