FC Goa travel to Guwahati to take on NorthEast United FC in Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18 at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati on Saturday. The Gaurs’ charge for a semi-finals spot has slowed down lately but they will be hoping to get back to winning ways against a fragile NorthEast. Defensive midfielder Pronay Halder caught up with indiansuperleague.com before the game and shared his thoughts on the upcoming fixture. Here are the excerpts.
This is your second stint with Goa, how has your experience been?
Yeah, pretty good. Pre-season went really well. We were in Spain for about 20-21 days. Everyone is doing well now.
What is your mind-set for the next game?
NorthEast are a good team. You can see they create a lot of chances but they’re not able to score maybe because of some luck factor. We will try to play well and get the three points.
Any advice you want to give your teammates for the next match?
If we just play the way the coach wants us to, we can win the game.
What improvements do you see in yourself under Sergio Lobera?
My ball control wasn’t that good. I’ve improved that under the new coach.
Who’s the most inspiring Indian footballer and why?
Obviously, Sunil Chhetri. Be it on the field or off it, he’s very professional.
Goa are in the top half of the league table, so how happy are you with the performances so far?
We have played one match less. If we win tomorrow, we’ll move up to second. We are playing well at the moment. We are playing as a unit and we’ll try to win tomorrow.
