After succumbing to their first defeat of Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18 against FC Pune City last time around, ATK will be looking to bounce back with a win against Jamshedpur FC at the JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur on Friday. Prabir Das, who has been a regular starter in the ongoing season for ATK thus far, sat down with indiansuperleague.com for an exclusive chat ahead of the match. Here are the excerpts from the interview.

Two matches played- one draw and one loss, how has the start been for you?

We started well with one point away at Kerala. Even in the second game, we started well and then committed a few silly mistakes. Now, we should forget about that and move onto the next game against Jamshedpur. We will try to put on a good show tomorrow.

Jamshedpur has a lot of Bengali players, in ATK it’s just you and Debjit. What are your thoughts?

It doesn’t matter if there are more Bengalis there. We are in ATK now, and we’ll try to get a result tomorrow.

Which team or player has impressed you the most up until now?

Bengaluru’s team is really good. In fact, all the teams are good, even our team is good. We played one bad match but it’s not going to be the same every game. We will focus entirely on the game tomorrow.

ATK is the most successful team in the Hero ISL with two titles and one semi-final. Any additional pressure that comes with that tag?

I don’t take a lot of pressure. I’ve played in Kolkata for a big club like Mohun Bagan before. It’s two games into the campaign and the season is very long. So we’re not taking any pressure at the moment. We’ll try to do well in the remaining fixtures.

What’s it like to play under Teddy Sheringham?

He’s always positive and tells us to focus on the next game. So tomorrow we will be focussing only on Jamshedpur.

You are a right-back. What are the qualities a good right back should have?

First of all, you have to be a good person. I will learn more from senior players. My job is to defend first, so I’m trying to improve on that.

What’s the difference between playing under Jose Molina and Sheringham?

Both are good. They support us even if we make a mistake. Teddy Sheringham is also a very good coach.

Do you follow any international clubs or players?

I follow Barcelona. In the EPL, I follow Manchester United. In terms of players, I follow Dani Alves and I try to be aggressive like him.
