Kerala Blasters FC have played two home games and are gearing up for their third of Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18 against Mumbai City FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi on Sunday. The hosts have kept two clean sheets in as many games, and a lot of the credit for that must go to their goalkeeper, Paul Rachubka. The Blasters custodian spoke exclusively to indiansuperleague.com ahead of their upcoming clash and discussed his team’s chances against the Islanders. Here are the excerpts.

How does it feel to play the third game at your home ground?

I am looking forward to it. It should be another fantastic night. To come out to a sea of yellow is a fantastic feeling, and we are looking forward to it, and (want) to win the game.

The coach specially mentioned you in the post-match press conference last time around. How does it feel when the coach says something good about you after the match?

Sometimes as a goalkeeper, it is not good overall if the coach is saying that. I am happy with the way I am doing my job. I have kept two clean sheets, and that is what’s important for me, and I think that makes him happy too.

Plan to make any tactical changes from the last match, so that the team starts scoring goals?

Not trying to reveal too much, but we know we have not been fluid in attack. We want to be, and we are practising that, and we are getting better. We just want to get better a little quicker, and that will hopefully ensure we score some goals.

Who is your favourite player on the team and in general?

I am getting to know all the players, and I enjoy playing with lots of them. Sandesh (Jhingan) has done very well; he blocks many shots and makes some good tackles. In fact, the whole back four has been fantastic. To work so hard and to defend, it has been fun working with them. We are getting to know each other. Growing up, my favourite goalkeeper was Peter Schmeichel. I got to meet him and play with him at Manchester United, so that was fantastic for me.

Do you have any message for the Kerala fans?

Keep up the good work is what I will say. I think the welcome has been unbelievable – I was told it would be unbelievable, and it is very much true. I am enjoying playing in front of the fans, and hopefully, we will give them the reward they deserve, which is the three points.
