Having claimed four points from their first two games of the Hero ISL 2018-19 campaign, FC Goa will be looking to keep up their momentum with a win in their first home game of the season. The Gaurs will be back in action in the Hero ISL after 18 days and will go up against Mumbai City FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Goa, on Wednesday.

Ahead of the match, indiansuperleague.com caught up with FC Goa defender Nirmal Chettri for an exclusive interview. Here are the excerpts:

How excited are you to play in front of the home crowd?

I think the team did very well last year. There is so much expectation from the fans. We look forward to the match. I think we need to give them what they deserve.

Thoughts on the third match

We are taking game by game. So, we did quite well in the two away games and now it’s at home. So, we try to do well, and we always look for the positive result at home.

Being a new player, how well have you got along with the team?

I think it has been a very good experience playing with many teams. I think it’s a challenge as well as it is a different learning experience for me by playing with the new team, new players and the new style of play. So, I look forward, it’s a long season and I’ll go day by day.

On playing under Sergio Lobera

I always try to learn from different players and try to set up a different experience in the dressing room and it’s always good to play with different coaches. You will get to learn and there are a lot of spaces for improvement. So, I will always try to learn and with my age, it’s always nice to learn from different coaches and players.

Message for home fans

I think they are one of the best fan bases in India. I’m sure that they will turn up in numbers and I always love to play with the good number of fans So, I’m sure that they will cheer us.
