Jamshedpur FC are undefeated in their seven matches so far this season and will be hoping to extend the streak when they travel to Pune to play against FC Pune City on Wednesday. Cesar Ferrando’s men will back themselves to pick up a win against a disjointed Pune side, who are currently in the bottom of the table with just two points from seven matches.

Ahead of the fixture, indiansuperleague.com caught up with Jamshedpur youngster Mobashir Rahman for an exclusive interview. Here are the excerpts.

Tell us about your footballing journey.

It’s been great. I’m really happy to be a part of this great team and it feels like home here playing with great legends like Tim Cahill, Tiri and all. So, I want to give my best for this team. I started my career from Chandigarh Football Academy, then joined Tata Football Academy. Later I played for the reserve side of this team and now I’m a part of the Jamshedpur FC Hero ISL team.

Any memorable moment you would like to share?

I remember when I was injured in the Tata Football Academy, I was out of the team for seven months. After that, when I started playing, I played my first match against East Bengal and scored a hat-trick against them. So, it’s a great memory for me.

Thoughts on the team’s current form.

We are undefeated in the league till now and we’re all working hard together. Everyone is focused now, confident, and in good form. We’re looking forward to winning this match and we are here to get three points. Everyone is working together as a team and we are focused.

How important is the role of foreign players in mentoring the younger players?

They are like role models for us. We are learning on and off the field from them. So, it’s a great achievement for us, working with them in the same team. We used to watch them. Last year, I was watching them from outside the field and today, I am playing with them, so it’s really great.

How are you planning to improve yourself?

I want to improve my speed and I want to improve every day. I want to learn something new every day. I watch each and every player, my teammates also. What they’re doing in the field and I learn from them.
