FC Pune City picked up a narrow 1 – 0 win over NorthEast United FC in Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18 at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati on Wednesday. In a match where the Highlanders arguably created the better chances, Marcelinho struck with his seventh goal of the campaign, four minutes from time, to bag all three points for the Stallions. The home team had created plenty of openings, with their midfielder Marcinho always in the thick of things, but failed to find the finish. Post the setback, the Brazilian addressed indiansuperleague.com and shared his thoughts regarding the game. Here are the excerpts.

What are your thoughts on the match?

I think we started the game slowly because we played just two-three days ago. We were a bit tired, but I think we did a good job. Just one mistake (cost us). It was my mistake. They got the ball, counter-attacked and won the game.

Was it a fair result?

I think we could’ve drawn, if not for their win. We played better, in my opinion.

What are your thoughts on the playoff chances?

It’s a difficult situation for us. We started the season very badly and now any points that we lose is a problem for us. We have to play every game to win and see what can happen.

What is the atmosphere like in the dressing room?

Very bad. We feel bad. We know that we can do a better job. For now, we just have to think about the next game and try to get as many points as we can.
