NorthEast United FC’s harrowing start to Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18 continued as ATK edged them 1-0 at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati on Friday. The Highlanders tried to get their composure back after Zequinha’s opener in the second half but fell well short. Malemngamba Meitei put in a spirited performance for the hosts but failed to thwart the visitors from picking up maximum points. After an engrossing 90 minutes, indiansuperleague.com caught up with the midfielder for his views on the match. Here are the excerpts.

Your thoughts on the match?

Absolutely gutted about it, but we tried our best and hopefully, we’ll look for something good next time. But we did our best out here today. We were going for full points today but there were some errors and that cost us the game, but we’ll move on to the next game and do well in it.

After Zequinha’s goal, how difficult was it to make a comeback?

It’s always difficult you know but we were always going for the win and then we were one goal down and that absolutely turned the game back on us.

What positives do you take from the game?

(We need to) work hard and rectify our mistakes.

What are your thoughts on the next match?

For every game, we give our best. Hopefully, we’ll win the next game and we are looking for a better result next time.

What do you think about your personal performance today?

I gave it my all but I am really gutted about the loss today and we’ll do our best in the next game.
