Jamshedpur FC gear up to welcome NorthEast United FC at the JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur on Saturday in Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18. The Highlanders’ chances of reaching their first every playoff have almost trickled away, as they enter the match on the back of three winless encounters. However, the visitors will be pumped to end the season on a high, especially after signing a number of new players. One of them is their Swedish forward, Maic Sema. Before the clash against the league debutants, the 29-year-old sat down with indiansuperleague.com and shared his views on the league, his team and more. Here are the excerpts.

How has your experience been in the Hero ISL so far?

Very good, I would say. I have nothing to complain. Since I came, everyone has treated me very well - the players, the team and even the fans. It’s been very good.

What made you choose India as your next destination?

To be honest, I did not know too much about Indian football, but when I got a contact from them, it sounded very interesting. I was looking for an adventure and this was really an adventure, far from home. But football is international and I wanted to see what India had to offer and I am happy to be here.

How did you enter the world of football and how has your journey been so far?

I started very young, when I was 5-6 years old. I loved football and I still love football. The passion was there since I was a young kid. I have played mostly in Sweden because I am Swedish, but I have been in and out. I have been in Holland (Netherlands), in Norway, in Cyprus and now in India. So, I have been moving a lot and this is what I like about football, you get a chance to see different cultures and meet different people.

How was it like to settle in with your team and teammates?

I never had problems to settle in. I am a very easy guy and easy to talk with. So yes, the guys like me as much as I like them. Everything has been really good so far.

According to you, which player from the team has the potential to make it big in the future?

We have some good young players. Tough to say but I think, many of the young players are good, and with a lot of training, passion, concentration and persistence, they will do good in India and in NorthEast. I think many players have a potential.

A disappointing season for NorthEast this time around, so what is the team looking ahead to in the remainder of the league?

I know the situation has been tough, but we are trying. We are trying to fight hard in every game and in every training. This is football. It’s not easy but we will fight till the end and get the win that we need at the end of the season.

Your thoughts on the game against Jamshedpur FC?

We are looking forward to the game. We are here to win, so we are preparing, and we are ready for the battle. It’s going to be a tough game, but we are ready.

Any message for the fans?

Like I always say, the fans are very important for us. We still need your support. We know that it’s not fun to not win and to not give the joy that you guys want but keep pushing and we will try our best.
