Lyngdoh delighted after dream return

Eugeneson Lyngdoh capped off his first appearance in Hero Indian Super League 2016 with a winner in FC Pune City’s 1-0 win over Mumbai City FC at the Mumbai Football Arena on Thursday evening. Lyngdoh started the game on the bench but came on at the start of the second period to score the only goal of the game in the dying moments of the match. The win was the Stallions’ second win in succession and now takes Antonio Habas’ men to fourth in the table with 12 points from nine matches. The 30-year-old spoke to indiansuperleague.com after the final whistle. Here are the excerpts from the interview.

A goal on your return for FC Pune City. How does it feel?

It feels amazing scoring in the first game and always great to help the team and get the three points.

Also a derby victory for FC Pune City…

That is even sweeter, you know (laughs).

This win has lifted you in the table, so do you think you can go on and win more matches?

We have had two consecutive good games. It is a good moment, so we need to try to do our best against the next team.

Goal in your first match this season, what does Eugeneson Lyngdoh go from here?

I just want to do my bit and chip in for the team. Irrespective of whether I score or not, I just want to help the team win.

Any special message for Pune fans…

The fans are great and I thank them for coming from Pune to support us, and please keep doing so.
