Lucca: NorthEast United’s marking was good

FC Pune City lost their second home game of the 2016 Hero Indian Super League to NorthEast United FC at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex Stadium in Balewadi on Wednesday evening. Emiliano Alfaro’s 79th-minute strike proved to be the difference after an eventful game that saw the Highlanders’ Nirmal Chettri sent off in the 37th minute and Eduardo Ferreira of Pune City sent off in the 71st minute. Jonatan Lucca, who had 92 touches of the ball – second only to the Stallions’ marquee player Mohamed Sissoko – spoke to indiansuperleague.com after the match and shared his thoughts. Here are the excerpts from the interview.

Not the result you wanted. What are your thoughts on the game?

It was a difficult game and NorthEast’s marking was very good and they played possession football for their goal. Congratulations to NorthEast.

Do you think you should have taken more initiative when you were a man up?

Yeah, I know there were many chances for us but as I told you before it was difficult to score because NorthEast’s marking was very good.

You have now lost two games at home. How important will it be to gain a maximum of six points from your next two home games?

Yeah, now we have to just win the other two games.
