Delhi Dynamos FC got their 2016 Hero Indian Super League campaign off to flier after a 3-1 win over defending champions Chennaiyin FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai on Thursday. A brace by Marcelinho and a Badara Badji header six minutes from full-time was enough for the Dynamos to kick-start their season with a clinical display. Midfielder Kean Lewis completed the full 90 minutes for the Lions and capped off a brilliant performance with an assist for Badji’s goal. The 24-year-old spoke to indiansuperleague.com after his team’s victory against the Super Machans. Here are the excerpts from the interview.
You guys came together well on the night. What are your thoughts on the game?
I think we did very well, worked hard. It’s quite humid here. We’ve been practicing in this hot weather, kind of a different climate but the boys played really well and we played our game. Feels good to come away with the three points.
On a personal note, you provided an assist towards the end. How does it feel?
Should have been on the score-sheet as well but that’s part of the game. Most important is we won and got the three points which is more important than any individual achievements.
Did we see anything coming together that has been practised in training? Can you tell us what the training has been like?
We generally work hard on tactics, few days we put together the set-pieces, and I think we kept them on their toes. I think we dominated the second half and a lot of credit goes to our coaches for teaching us a lot movement off the ball and we kept them on their toes and made them keep searching for us.
Next game in Kerala which is known for passionate supporters. What do you have to say about that?
I’ve never been to Kerala for a game, it will be my first time. So I’m excited to play there. The motivation is to get three points and come away with six points on the road.
