Kerala Blasters FC take on Mumbai City FC in Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18 at the Mumbai Football Arena on Sunday. New recruit Keziron Kizito will look to provide impetus to David James’ side as they look for a turnaround in fortunes in the second-half of the season. While speaking to indiansuperleague.com, the 20-year old shared his thoughts ahead of the clash. Here are the excerpts.
How did you start your football journey?
I started way back at the Vipers, a local team in Uganda. I joined AFC Leopards in Kenya. Then I came to play for Kerala Blasters.
What does football mean to you?
Football is life to me. I’ve been playing since I was 10. All my life I’ve been playing.
If not for football, where would you be right now?
I actually don’t know. Maybe, I’d be a model because I like modelling.
How does it feel to be a part of Kerala Blasters?
It’s a big honour for me to be part of Kerala Blasters because it’s a legendary club and has amazing fans.
What do you have to say about David James?
He’s a nice coach. Apart from being a coach, he’s a good friend to all the footballers.
How did your debut game against FC Pune City go?
It went good. I think I made an impact on the team and the fans were happy. We managed to get a point. It was a great debut.
Did the coach say something before your debut game?
Yeah, of course. He gave me the instructions and I played according to that.
Is there any person you look up to as a role model?
Yeah, of course. I love the way Andres Iniesta and Xavi used to play because I’m a Barcelona fan.
What do have to say going up against Mumbai?
The league is so tight and competitive. Every game is a final to us. I don’t know much about Mumbai but I know the teams are all competitive.
What is your biggest strength?
I would say passing the ball and dribbling is my biggest strength.
What do you have to say about the fans?
On my first day, I couldn’t believe it. The fans were so amazing. They are like the Dortmund of India.
