Joffre delighted by Goa’s fighting spirit

Joffre had a lively outing during FC Goa’s 1-0 win over FC Pune City at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex Stadium in Balewadi on Thursday. It was the Gaurs’ second win in Hero Indian Super League 2016 and saw them rise to seventh position in the table with seven points from eight games as Rafael Coelho scored the game’s only goal from a free-kick in the 32nd minute. The Spanish playmaker at the centre of the park had an influential role in game, getting involved both in attack and defence. Joffre spoke to indiansuperleague.com after the match and shared his thoughts on the win. Here are the excerpts from the interview.

Brilliant result for you today away from home, how does it feel?

Yes, we are feeling very good and we need these feelings again and the team not only played well today but also showed fighting spirit and I’m very happy today.

Coelho scored a beautiful goal through a free-kick. Were you tempted to take that free-kick?

No, I told Rafael it is yours as I knew he is good and had a better chance of scoring.

Do you think this win is going to boost your campaign? Are you going to go on and win more games?

Yes, of course we don’t have any other option (laughs) and we have to win four matches and we are going to try our best, so let’s go for it.
