Jeje Lalpekhlua scored his second goal of Hero Indian Super League 2016 during Chennaiyin FC’s 1-1 draw against Mumbai City FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai on Wednesday. The 25-year-old headed his side into the lead from a Maurizio Peluso corner in the 51st minute before a spectacular shot from range by Leo Costa sailed into the back of net two minutes from full-time. Jeje also produced a key pass to set up Dudu as Chennai looked to double their lead but the Nigerian striker’s attempt was brilliantly saved by the Mumbai City custodian. The 25-year-old spoke to indiansuperleague.com after the match and shared his thoughts on the draw. Here are the excerpts from the interview.
Do you think it was a fair result?
I think the result could have been better because we scored a goal and conceded in the last minutes of the game. But this happens in football, we need to forget this match and concentrate on the next game against Delhi.
You have a week off after this match and you play next on October 9. What do you have to say about that?
Like I said we need to have good recovery and come back stronger.
Mumbai have been great this season but you dominated the entire game till that goal. What do you think happened there?
I think we could have got three points, but like I said it happens in football sometimes you win sometimes you draw, but the most important thing is how you come back.
Did Chennai miss Marco Materazzi on the touchline today?
Yes, I think if he was there, then things could have been different but he will be back next game so it will be better.
