Two-time Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) champions ATK have had an indifferent start to the current campaign, picking up just seven of the possible 18 points in their first six matches. Steve Coppell's men have impressed in certain matches, notably away to Delhi Dynamos FC, but consistency has been a major issue for the former champions. With the side slated to play an out-of-form FC Pune City, who are currently rooted to the bottom of the table with just two points, on the cards on Saturday, Coppell will be hoping to bag three important points and build up some sort of momentum before the international break kicks in.

Before the match, indiansuperleague.com met up with ATK midfielder Jayesh Rane for an exclusive interview. Here are the excerpts:

Thoughts on ATK’s home form.

I think it’s a concern because we have to win home matches but also, I think we’re not lucky over here. But we’re trying our best to win all the home matches and do something for the Kolkata fans.

Thoughts on your role in the team.

My role is to help the team in anyway I can - whether I come off the bench or if I start the match. My role is to just come and give my 100% on the pitch, that’s it.

Being a Maharashtrian, are the next two games (against FC Pune City and Mumbai City FC) more important for you?

Yeah, because I’m from Mumbai and like every player who is from their state, they want to play against teams from their state. If they’re playing in some other state, they want to play against (teams from) their state and they want to win. It’s the same with me. I hope that we’ll give our best in the two matches and make sure we win it. But in Mumbai, it’ll be very special because it’s my home city and we have a long break in between so we can prepare for that match. For this match, too, we had a good break so I think we will make use of it and deliver.
