Hume disappointed after dropping points against 10-man Delhi

Iain Hume scored the opening goal of the night during Atlético de Kolkata’s 2-2 draw against Delhi Dynamos FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi on Sunday. It was the Canadian striker’s fourth goal of Hero Indian Super League 2016 and his first from open play this season. The 33-year-old striker looked threatening for the visitors and provided three key passes – the most by any player on the pitch – before being substituted in the second half. Hume spoke to indiansuperleague.com after the game and shared his thoughts on the draw. Here are the excerpts from the interview.
Are you disappointed with the result?
Yes, massively. A lot of questionable decisions… I think, on the whole, we dominated in the first half…So, it is a tough one to take as Delhi are a good team and we dominated them. Malouda was brilliant, so as you said we are going home a bit disappointed.
Another goal for you. What do you have to say about that?
Scoring goals is the aim for me but if we could have got the three points I would have been happy. So it is bittersweet as we have got four points from the team that is top of the table. We are disappointed but we are proud of ourselves as we outplayed them. But we have got to get better.
You play NorthEast United FC next and you are still in the top four, so how confident are you taking this momentum forward and going all the way this time?
We have got to take every ninety minutes as they come but I think we have still not given our best, which is hard to say as we are fourth in the league but you still have not seen our best…I think we worked hard for the first sixty minutes but we have not been in full flow for the full ninety minutes. So the closer it is getting to the end of the season, the sooner we have to get that done and I am pretty excited as the guys are working hard and we need to get that done on a consistent basis. Where we are in the league, I think it is a good stepping stone and we are going to improve.
