Bengaluru FC have had a stunning start to Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) 2018-19 under head coach Carles Cuadrat. The Blues currently top the table by two points and are well on course to qualify for the play-offs. However, they have been dealt a huge injury blow with star striker Miku ruled out for a lengthy period. In his absence, new singing Chencho Gyeltshen will be expected to chip in with the goals.

Ahead of their next encounter against FC Pune City, the Bhutanese forward spoke exclusively to indiansuperleague.com on his time with Bengaluru so far. Here are the excerpts:

How has your Hero ISL experience been so far?

So this is my first time in the Hero ISL and in Bengaluru FC. I’m very happy to join Bengaluru FC and after I’ve joined I’m very happy and even the fans back home, they are very happy about me joining Bengaluru FC.

Were you under pressure replacing Miku in the line-up?

So first of all, it’s big pressure on me replacing him in his place but I really enjoyed the match and I played my best.

How have you settled in Bengaluru?

Bengaluru is one of the best places in India I feel so I really like it here, the atmosphere, the support from the fans, support from the management and I really like it here.

How does it feel hearing your name being chanted by the fans?

It’s a very proud moment hearing your name from the fans saying Chencho! Chencho! Chencho! It’s a very proud moment.

Were you worried about getting playing time when you joined?

There are very professional players like Miku and all, they are very professional players, they’re really experienced players. I’m still young, I’ve still more to learn from them and I don’t have any regrets about not playing in the first 11 and all but I’ve always been working hard for the team.

Thoughts on head coach Carles Cuadrat.

Carles is the main guy for Bengaluru FC. He’s a very tactical coach and the way he coaches and trains with the players, it really helps our team and he’s a really amazing guy.
