Souvik Chakraborty will be looking to make his fifth successive start for Delhi Dynamos FC in Hero Indian Super League 2016 against Atlético de Kolkata at the Rabindra Sarobar Stadium in Kolkata on Saturday. The 24-year-old has completed all of Delhi’s 380 minutes this year, looking comfortable both in attack and defence. He has completed four interceptions, six successful tackles and eight clearances for the Dynamos so far. Not shy of getting forward in attack either, Chakraborty has also made seven crosses, 141 passes and has a passing accuracy of 77%. He spoke to indiansuperleague.com ahead of the Dynamos’ encounter with ATK on Saturday. Here are the excerpts from the interview.
In your last match the Dynamos made a good comeback, so is the team very positive for this game?
Yes, of course, in the last match we were down by two goals and then we made a comeback, so that was a positive result and a big morale booster, and of course we are trying to win this game.
So when the team was down what advice did the coach give you at half-time?
The coach said, ‘we have 45 minutes more and that we should not repeat our mistakes and we should play to our strengths’.
This year the league is very tight, so how many points do you think will be enough to qualify for the semis?
I think we will require at least 18 points to qualify as a lot of teams have dropped points.
Are you happy with your own performance?
No, I can never be happy as I always want to try and perform better.
