Bywater: It’s all coming together for Kerala now
default
Stephen Bywater is loving every moment in the 2015 Hero Indian Super League. The Kerala Blasters FC goalkeeper has been in the thick of things for his team this season with 21 saves and two clean sheets, having featured in all eight games. The 34-year-old Englishman spoke to indiansuperleague.com ahead of the Blasters’ home game against Atlético de Kolkata at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi on Tuesday and shared his ISL experience so far. Here are the excerpts from the interview.
How has been your experience in India so far?
It’s been nice! There have been ups and downs, but it’s all coming together now [having taken four points from the last two matches]. It’s exciting out here, especially the Kerala fans. Best in the world, I’ll say!
"The fans just want us to do well, every single one of them."
Stephen BywaterYou haven’t conceded in the last two matches from open play. What do you have to say on that?
I think we’re defending as a whole team, a whole unit. We’re training on it and it’s a good thing that we’re coming together with the last six games left.
What do you take away from this League, personally?
I love the 90 minutes I play at home, and it’s all thanks to the amazing support received from the Kerala Blasters fans. That’s the biggest and the most enjoyable thing I’m taking home. Now [on coming from England], I expected big crowds, but not such a good atmosphere! The fans just want us to do well, every single one of them.
