FC Goa edged Kerala Blasters FC 2 – 1 in Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi on Sunday. Ferran Corominas and Edu Bedia struck on either side of a CK Vineeth equaliser to bag all three points for the Gaurs. A consistent performer for Goa on the night was their local boy Brandon Fernandes who had a big influence on his team’s fortunes. The 23-year-old spoke to indiansuperleague.com post-match and shared his thoughts regarding the game. Here are excerpts from the interview.

Brandon, always a tough place to come. How was it playing in front of this crowd?

It is really a good experience when you’re playing and there is 60,000 people watching you and cheering against you. We are very happy to get three points. It is very difficult to come here and play in front of this incredible crowd.

Kerala put a fair bit of pressure on you in the first half. What took you’ll to the next level?

We wanted three points very badly. We wanted to get into the top four, and we came with a plan to attack Kerala in the second half and we did really well.

Tell us about your involvement in the first goal. You ran down the flank in the first half. Just talk us through that.

When I get the ball, I try to play forward and when I saw Mandar (Rao Dessai) made the run, I passed the ball to him and he assisted Coro (Ferran Corominas).

How important are these three points in the larger picture, like qualifying for the top four?

It’s massive. We have to take these three points going forward in the league. It’s really important for us; you never know what can happen in the coming matches. So, these three points are crucial for us.

Happy to be playing with your Spanish teammates? How does that feel for you?

I like and follow a lot of Spanish football. I am very lucky to get to play with the Spanish guys and get coached by a Spanish coach.
