FC Goa visit the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai to face Chennaiyin FC in the second leg of the second semi-final of Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18 on Tuesday. The Gaurs conceded an away goal in the first leg at their home and will need to score to progress. Brandon Fernandes has enjoyed a fine season so far, playing a pivotal role in midfield and notching up four assists. The 23-year-old spoke to indiansuperleague.com on the eve of the match and shared his thoughts. Here are the excerpts.

How close was the last game?

You know we played well at our home. We were unlucky to concede against Chennaiyin FC. I think we have to go and attack, we have to score and you know we are a team who can score. Tomorrow we have to score and then we’ll see what happens.

Is it advantage Chennaiyin FC heading into the second leg?

Yes. They got an away goal that means we are one goal down. Tomorrow, we have to score anyhow otherwise we don’t go through. So we’ll go for a victory. If we get one goal, we’ll push for another goal.

Are you confident despite Chennaiyin FC playing at home?

Yes. You know they’re playing in Chennai, they’re playing at home. The last time we came here, we scored three goals so we’re looking to do the same. They are playing at home. It doesn’t really matter to us. We’re coming here to win the match.

Team-wise and personally, how do you rate the season?

As a team, we’ve done really well you know that is why we’ve reached the semi-finals. On a personal note, I did really well in the starting of the season and later on I got injured so it was a little down for me. I am back now and I will do whatever I can now and play in the next match.

Any message for the travelling fans?

Yes, I’d like to tell the fans to come in huge numbers and support us and back us. We are playing an away match so the support will be very crucial for us.
