Jamshedpur FC are yet to concede their first goal in Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18 after the first four games of their campaign. The tireless running of midfielder Bikash Jairu has played a part in three of those games. In an exclusive interview with indiansuperleague.com ahead of the big match against FC Pune City in Jamshedpur, the soft-spoken winger spoke about himself, and what it’s like to be a part of the team hailing from the Steel City. Here are the excerpts.
What is your favourite off-season activity? What do you do when you are not playing football?
I love to listen to music, and play a guitar and sing a song while chilling with my friends. I am not a great guitarist, but just like to play it.
Who is your favourite music artist?
I like Arijit Singh, and my Nepali songs.
What drives you to get up and come for training every morning?
Nothing much. I just like to prepare with my teammates, and that is it.
You missed out on ISL last season due to injury. So, how frustrating was that, and does that motivate you to do better this season?
It was really bad, but it is a part of life. We have to accept all these things, and try to remain motivated. I just look at the top players who got injured, and try to come back as soon as I can.
How has the Hero ISL revolutionised football in India?
It is really nice to see that India is getting better, and I am hoping that it gets even better over the coming seasons.
Jamshedpur FC is the only team to not concede a goal this season and have four clean sheets. What do you think is different about your team?
We are just like other teams – we stay together, and talk to each other. That’s it.
According to you, what is the biggest advantage of a league like the ISL where you get to play with foreign players and experienced coaches?
I am really honoured to be a part of Jamshedpur FC, and with all the big players and coaches, we just learn more and more. The way we go, we learn the technical things – the way we train, the way we sleep, and everyone is a professional.
How important was scoring and winning against Delhi after three draws?
It was very nice, and I was very happy to get the three points, because it was very important.
What is your game plan against FC Pune City tomorrow?
There is no game plan as such. We just see how they play. Nowadays, we just see all the things, and prepare accordingly.
Do you have any message for the Jamshedpur FC fans?
First of all, thank you to the Jamshedpur FC management for having me in their team. And to the fans, I just want to say that they were amazing. In our first home match, we got a lot of support from them, and I would like to thank them for it.
