FC Pune City will look to revive their faltering Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) 2018-19 campaign when they travel to play an in-form FC Goa at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Goa on Sunday. With only one point from their three matches so far, Pune will be hoping for a new start under the stewardship of interim coach Pradyum Reddy, who took over the reins after the club decided to part ways with head coach Miguel Portugal recently.

Ahead of the all-important fixture, indiansuperleague.com had a brief chat with FC Pune City forward Ashique Kuruniyan. Here are the excerpts.

On his football journey

I started playing football when I was in school and used to go for football trials in the academies. That's how I came here to FC Pune City's academy and the team picked me from there.

On his experience playing for FC Pune City.

Last year was good for us. We reached the semi-finals and it was a good experience for us. Foreign players, coaches and the management, everyone helped us. It was my first season and I got to play nine matches. So, it was quite a good season.

Last three matches have been tough. How important is it to win against FC Goa?

We don't want to delve into what happened. We are focusing on the upcoming matches and we are preparing for that.

On playing against FC Goa after they won 5-0 in their last match.

All teams in the Hero ISL are winning and losing. So, we just have to focus on our game and we will try and go for the win.

What can the team do differently on the pitch to get better results?

We are going to play together. We are trying to connect better on the pitch and play well. We will try much harder in the next match.
